Historical Significance

Fraternal & Social History: The Order of the Eastern Star (OES) was established in 1850 as a Masonic appendant body open to both Master Masons and their female relatives, marking one of the earliest major fraternal organizations in the United States to include women in its ritualistic work.

Symbolic Iconography:

The Miniature Sickle: Symbolizes Ruth, the second heroine/point of the Eastern Star emblem, representing devotion and constancy (drawn from the biblical narrative of gleaning in the fields of Boaz). In OES chapter ritual, the sickle/sheaf represents the station of the Associate Conductress or Ruth.

The Studded Star: A five-pointed Eastern Star emblem with raised mounting pins/studs, originally designed to hold ribbon or additional officer fittings during chapter meetings.

Craftsmanship: Housed in a custom fitted velvet-lined pine presentation case with hand-applied hook closures and red corded trim, typical of late 19th to early 20th-century lodge presentation regalia.
