Up for sale is a fantastic and remarkably complete piece of vintage pharmaceutical history: a 4 fl. oz. amber glass bottle containing Tincture No. 80 Valerian, manufactured by Eli Lilly and Company, Indianapolis, U.S.A.
The classic amber glass apothecary bottle retains its original green-and-beige paper label with clear typography. The label indicates that the contents contain 68 percent alcohol and notes its historical use as a sedative in minor nervous disorders. It also details adult dosage instructions, medical cautions, and batch/stock numbers. Crucially, this bottle remains approximately two-thirds full with its original liquid contents and is sealed with its ribbed black cap.
