Description
Up for sale is a classic vintage apothecary and laboratory piece: a heavy clear glass graduated dispensing bottle complete with its original ground glass stopper.
Embossed directly into the thick glass on the front is a measurement scale reading "APPROXIMATE" alongside volumetric increments in CC (cubic centimeters / milliliters), scaling from 0 up to 200 CC. This style of bottle was a staple in early pharmacies, dispensaries, and medical laboratories for measuring, mixing, and storing liquid tinctures, compounds, and reagents.
Historical Significance & Use:
In 19th- and early 20th-century apothecaries and hospital dispensaries, precise volumetric dispensing was critical for compounding liquid medications. Graduated bottles allowed pharmacists to quickly measure and store liquid mixtures without needing a separate graduated cylinder for every step. Today, these pieces are highly sought after by collectors of vintage medical instruments, apothecary items, and chemical glassware for rustic shelf display or cabinet-of-curiosities styling.
Condition:
Good vintage/antique condition. The glass is clear with nice heavy character, minor surface wear, and normal age-related residue/scuffs on the exterior consistent with genuine laboratory use. The ground glass stopper fits securely into the neck. Please review all photos for exact details.
